The reopening of the Winsford Shed has been a slow process. Our aim is to provide the same services as we previously ran at the original shed created by Age UK. We are having to build the services step by step due to space constraints and obviously available funds.
Our hosts ‘Changing Lives Together’ have enabled us to complete the initial build stage of the new Winsford Shed both by allowing us the space at their premises at Road 2 on the Winsford Industrial Estate and by helping along with our other sponsons and supporters to fund the build of our new workshops.
The new woodwork workshop and the CNC workshop are now fully functional. The CNC workshop finally up and running it houses our new I2R8 CNC Router. (The CNC system was purchased with the donations from our sponsors at the original Age UK shed. Unfortunately the Covid pandemic forced the shed to close before we had the system installed and running. I am glad to report that The system has now been installed in our new workshop at the Winsford Shed. )
The new I2R8 CNC will not only provide the ability for the shed to enhance its capabilities for its members but also enable the Winford Shed to produce items which will help fund the ongoing expenditure of the shed.
Whilst the workshop is key to the goals of the Winsford Men In Sheds Association. The Winsford Shed has always provided other additional functionality such as the I.T. platforms and where required both training and a level of repair on such systems. These services run parallel to the woodwork workshop and often interact with them. A prime example is the operation of the CNC router as this system is fully computer driven. Other examples of our I.T. platforms are 3D printing and design and also web services and web site design. A typical example of our web services design is this website which has been created internally by our own members.
